Geocaching

Well, we've found the fun art of geocaching and are having a blast finding differnt caches. For those of you unfamiliar in this activity, a person or group hides a cache (aka container w/log and usually some junk...really junk) and posts the coordinates on geocaching.com which said geocachers then plug into their GPS and go search. It's sounds easy enough, right? Actually it takes a little thinking and good eyes. The caches range from micro size (film cannister)->average size(most common...ammo case)->large (any sort of container that's big that you can think of).
When we went to Nevada in May we brought the GPS and some cache coordinates and found one with the help of it's clue (magnetic). If we didn't have that clue, we would have never found the cache. We've had Lauren work on her math skills while with the GPS, telling us whether we need to go more north or south/east or west when comparing to the coordinates we are working on finding. It's been quite fun and a great family activity to do on the weekend or vacation, etc.
