Ok, so I don't see celebrities everyday. Well, let me correct that...I don't remember the last time I saw a celebrity. I know it was when I was with my cousins in LA, but don't even remember who. Well, while at the Capitol building yesterday, this is who I saw: Robert Downey Jr.That's it...nothing big. I just saw a movie star. :D

Goals are being set higher
Troops to Troops
Lauren and Olivia originally set a goal of 100 boxes to send to the military troops overseas. That goal (in 3 days) has already been surpassed. Help them reach their new goal of 500 boxes to military troops overseas. You'll receive a tax-deductible donation receipt and know that you helped. You can't ship a box overseas to the troops for the cost of donating boxes through Girl Scouts.
We've been fortunate enough to have four individual donate an entire case (12 boxes) to this cause. Join in the effort to boost morale and get a little bit of "home" to our troops fighting overseas.
Thank for your help. Leave a comment or contact me via email if you'd like to support Lauren and Olivia in their goal.

We passed it---SORRY!
While waiting for Lauren to get out of a Girl Scout class yesterday, we were sitting parked along the side of the road. Julia climbed into the passenger seat and says loudly...for Olivia...
Lauren: "Awww, that is cute"
Julia: "Where is it? Where is it?"
Olivia: "Passed it, Sorry"
Julia: "Awww" usually accompanied by a little frown
After seeing how much I laughed at her little zebra joke, she decided to go on and on with various exotic animals, which included:
a "yion"

a "panda bear"

and a "Ho-Ho"
uh, maybe I shouldn't show that...

Well, actually, that's the name of a monkey on one of her favorite shows:"Ni Hao, Kai Lan". Now all monkeys are "ho-ho's".
From the mouths of babes. :D

She's got her nose in a book...
Olivia is really loving this reading thing. I can't keep her away from books. Recently she read the entire Frog and Toad Treasury.
Normally a parent wouldn't complain of a child that prefers to read much of her time, but she does so much reading like...
while she should be doing her schoolwork (that's not language arts),
while she should be eating,
while she is walking,
in the bathroom,
feet on the couch...head on the floor,
and then there is the reading aloud...
Don't get me wrong, she's an excellent reader, but reading aloud while I'm working with Lauren on math, or while Julia is trying to go down for her nap, or while I'm just trying to think, can be a little much. I'm so proud of her though! She just finished the Little Bear treasury.
What to start next? Hmmm, what is the read for this month's book group? That's the way to get it done. A live audio reading. What an idea. :D Way to go Olivia!

Girl Scout Cookie Time
We are so, so, so excited to sell cookies. This will be Lauren and Olivia's first Cookie Sale and WOW!! are they different than when I was a kid. As always, kids aim for prizes for the number of boxes they sell. How amazing are cumulative prizes? The girls can't get over if they get one prize, they get everything before it too. The girls are aiming hard for the laptop, which then gets you an iPod Touch, Sony PSP, and a flip camcorder, in addition to some absolutely adorable rainbow tie-dye attire and panda products. They are aiming HIGH. And I mean, really high. To get to the notebook, they need 2000 boxes. That's 167 cases. My house will look like a zoo if I have that much!!
Like the past three years, prices are $4 per box and there is amazing variety.
My favorite:

Trefoils are best right out of the freezer, really they're great!
OR
if you are interested in purchasing cookies for military overseas, Red Cross, or local food banks, you can donate boxes to Gift of Caring. You'll get a donation receipt, which I believe is tax deductible.
Remember, Girl Scout cookies are only around once a year. Do you want to have a stash so you can enjoy them months down the road? Consider purchasing a case, or just more than for right now.
The troop goal is to sell enough to pay for horseback riding and a pizza party. Help them out. Contact me via email, or phone (if you have my number)...sorry it's not going on the web, and I will take your order.
Help Troop 20141 reach their horseback riding goal.
